Checklists

Onboarding tasks people tick off from a launcher button, at their own pace.

A checklist lists the few things a new user should do to get value from your product. It lives behind a launcher button, remembers each person's progress and ticks items off as they do them.

The editor

SectionWhat you set
What & whereThe name (only your team sees it) and the Pages its launcher appears on.
ContentThe title, a short introduction and the message people see when they finish.
ItemsThe tasks: what each one opens and what marks it done. Up to 20.
Launcher & styleThe launcher's position and label, and your product's colors.
Audience & priorityWho sees it, and how it ranks against other pop-ups.
TranslationsThe checklist and its items in other languages.

Items

For each item, choose what its button does:

  • Nothing — it's a reminder: the item only describes what to do.
  • Start a tour: a button starts one of your tours.
  • Open a page: a button opens a page in your app or elsewhere.

And what marks it done:

  • They mark it done: a "Mark as done" button ticks it off.
  • Your app tracks an event: something your app reports to Cueston, such as a report being exported. Ask a developer which events your app sends, or check Who sees it.
  • They visit a page: opening a matching page completes it.
  • They complete other content: finishing a tour (or other content) completes it.

Four to six items is plenty. Lead with the one that shows your product's value fastest.

In the help hub

When the help hub is on with its Checklists tab, checklists move into the hub instead of having their own launcher.
