Introduction
Cueston shows people how to use your web app with tours, tooltips, banners, checklists, surveys and announcements, and measures what they do with them.
Cueston puts guidance inside your product. A tour walks a new admin through setup. A tooltip points at a button that moved. A banner warns about maintenance. A checklist gets new users to their first result. A survey asks how it's going. A "What's new" post announces a feature.
You build it, publish it, and a small script on your site shows it to the right people on the right pages.
How it fits together
- The snippet on your site loads published guidance with your publishable key (
pk_…) and decides what to show to whom. It's safe in page source. - The dashboard at app.cueston.com is where your team builds, previews, publishes and measures guidance.
- Your code and tools reach the same workspace without the dashboard.
Three ways in
| Way in | Use it for | Start here |
|---|---|---|
| Dashboard | Building, reviewing and publishing by hand, analytics | Quickstart |
| REST API and webhooks | Your own code: sync content, react to events, export data | REST API · Webhooks |
| AI agents (MCP) and the CLI | Asking Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to build guidance; scripts and CI | AI agents · CLI |
They all act as a person in your workspace, with that person's role. Drafts, approval rules and the audit log work the same way for each.
