Amplitude Guides and Surveys is the in-app guidance part of Amplitude’s analytics platform. Guide templates include tours, announcements, checklists, carousels, banners, tooltips and card embeds, alongside surveys, a Resource Center and an AI Assistant that answers user questions, launches guides and can run workflows you allow. It shares data with Amplitude’s product analytics and experimentation, and has mobile SDKs.
Cueston is a standalone guidance tool for web apps. Tours, tooltips, banners, checklists, surveys and announcements come with every plan, as does an AI chat that answers users from your help docs. Prices are published and depend on monthly active users, not on how many guides you run.

When Amplitude Guides and Surveys is the better fit
- You already use Amplitude for analytics. Guides use the same events and users, and results sit next to the rest of your product data.
- You need guides in native mobile apps as well as on the web. Amplitude ships Guides and Surveys mobile SDKs; Cueston is web only.
- You want deep product analytics, experiments and in-app guidance from one vendor.
- You want an AI assistant that can take steps for the user. Amplitude’s docs say admins choose which tools and workflows it can run.
When Cueston is the better fit
- You don’t use Amplitude and want guidance without adopting an analytics platform.
- You want to see the price up front. Cueston’s plans are listed; Amplitude prices Guides and Surveys add-ons as a percentage of the platform plan and doesn’t publish the amount.
- You want more live guides for free. Cueston’s free plan allows 3; Amplitude’s free plan allows 1.
- You want help offered when people struggle. Friction detection spots rage clicks, dead clicks and long pauses.
What each costs
Amplitude: the free plan includes 1 live guide or survey. On Plus, Guides and Surveys is an add-on (1 included, an add-on for more); Growth and Enterprise include 2, with an add-on for unlimited guides, A/B testing of nudges and custom CSS. Amplitude says add-on packages are priced as a percentage of the platform plan and Growth and Enterprise are custom, so there’s no public price for the add-on. See Amplitude pricing.
Cueston: a free plan (3 live guides, 1,000 monthly active users, 50 AI answers a month), then Launch at $39 a month billed yearly (15 live guides, 2,500 users, 500 AI answers), Ascent at $79 (unlimited guides, 10,000 users, 2,000 AI answers) and Orbit at $199 (50,000 users, 10,000 AI answers). See Cueston pricing.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need Amplitude analytics to use Cueston?▾
No. Cueston runs on its own. It has guide analytics and funnels, but not full product analytics, so teams that need both often keep an analytics tool alongside it.
Is Cueston cheaper than Amplitude Guides and Surveys?▾
We can’t say for sure, because Amplitude doesn’t publish the add-on price. Cueston’s paid plans are $39, $79 and $199 a month billed yearly. Ask Amplitude for a quote at your volume and compare.
Does Cueston work in native mobile apps?▾
No. Cueston runs in web apps, including on mobile browsers. If your guides must run in native iOS or Android apps, Amplitude Guides and Surveys has mobile SDKs.
